Volunteer with us!

We offer on-site and online unpaid volunteer opportunities. We welcome volunteers of all ages!

Why volunteer with Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation?

We understand the stress of finding housing accommodations, so we try our best to provide a homestay for individual (non-group) volunteers. You can choose to stay with a team member based in Tanzania for a safe, worry-free experience and support as you navigate our culture and landscape. We also have hostel partners locally who can accommodate you starting from $20 USD per night if you choose to stay in a hostel instead. Private and shared rooms are available. Groups can discuss housing options with the team (info@nguzofoundation.org).

We provide transportation to and from the airport, as well as assistance with visas by providing any mandatory organization-related documents required by Tanzania Immigration Department.

Volunteers are responsible for flights, daily transportation, food, hostel costs (if not engaged in a homestay experience), and any tourism opportunities.

Aika's family welcomed me into their home and made me feel like a part of their family. I always felt safe, cared for, and supported in learning Swahili to challenge myself. The Nguzo team made it clear from the start that I was not a tourist, but an integral part of the team ready to put forth the effort to contribute to their engaging community programs. I assisted with pre-existing projects, developed the website, enhanced engagement across various social media platforms, captured video content, created project proposals, and assisted with program monitoring and evaluation. I could not be more grateful for my time with Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation. They are genuinely passionate about their work and it is encouraging to collaborate with people who care so deeply about their communities. You will not regret supporting them, whether that is through volunteering, interning, donating, joining full-time staff, or cultivating a partnership. Get ready to hear "Karibu," because you are truly welcome in Tanzania.

I am very proud to be supporting Nguzo and the local communities in the Hai and Siha Districts of Tanzania. Aika and the wider team of volunteers and community members have developed grassroots projects founded on their own research and observations to ensure that community needs are met, and young people and women can live healthy and meaningful lives. I am pleased to help Nguzo develop new funding partnerships that will enable each project to flourish and achieve local impact.
