Elly Adonikamu is a seasoned medical professional with expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics. She has managed NHIF patients, headed the pediatric department, and handled neonatal emergencies at Nkinga Referral Hospital in Tanzania. Previously, as a Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Elly managed gynecological cases, antenatal complications, and labor emergencies. Her dedication and extensive experience make her a valuable asset to the Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation.

Caroline Allen
Board Member
Caroline Allen brings over 5 years of experience in international and local HIV/AIDS programs, excelling in coordinating regulatory submissions and communications. She is adept at developing and training research staff, skilled in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and experienced in the informed consent process. Caroline has a strong background in clinical and organizational ethics, preparing progress reports and budgets, and ensuring quality control. Bilingual in English and Swahili, she is proficient in Microsoft Office applications and values teamwork while being capable of independent decision-making. Her dedication and expertise make her a valuable asset to our organization.

Jacob Mushi
Chairperson of the Board of Directors
Jacob Mushi serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and is a Co-founder of NGUZO Women and Youth Foundation. He is a seasoned Trainer and Project Management Professional with extensive experience in managing rural development programs. Jacob's expertise lies in biodiversity conservation, agricultural and non-agricultural production enhancement, food security and safety, food processing and preservation, and income-generating projects.
Having collaborated with government bodies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, as well as various local and international organizations, Jacob brings a wealth of knowledge in organizational capacity assessment and consultation. He is well-versed in donor programs and initiatives, providing technical support in policy formulation and program design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Jacob holds a Master of Science in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and a Diploma in Animal Production. He firmly believes in the transformative power of empowering women and the youth through training and support, viewing it as integral to community development.

Salim Mohamed Said
Co-Founder and Board Member
Salim Mohamed Said is a dedicated Tanzanian, born in Tabora, Western Tanzania. He graduated from Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic Development. With a focus on business development, youth capacity building, and climate-resilient agriculture, Salim has become an iconic trainer in these areas. Through entrepreneurship training, he has helped youth groups develop business ideas, create business plans, and establish successful businesses.
Salim's work in climate-resilient agriculture has empowered smallholder farmers in Kilimanjaro and Arusha to increase their farm production while adapting to the challenges of climate change. He strongly believes in transforming communities through capacity building, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for sustainable development.
As an effective trainer of farmers' organizations, Salim has played a key role in revitalizing under-performing coffee cooperatives in Kilimanjaro, turning them into profitable and business-oriented entities. His dedication to cooperative education and management has led to the successful transformation of these cooperatives.
Salim serves as a Board Member of the Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation, where his expertise in youth development, permaculture, entrepreneurship, and community development contributes significantly to the organization's mission and vision. His leadership and impact make him a valuable asset to the foundation.

Aikande Robert Nkya
Director and Founder
Aikande Robert Nkya, Director and Founder, and a secretary Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation Board, hails from Kilimanjaro Region, Machame Village, Tanzania. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic Development from Moshi Cooperative University and a Master of Arts in Cooperative Community Development.
Aika is driven by the belief that educating girls empowers entire communities. With a passion for empowering and training girls to become confident leaders, she champions education as the cornerstone of community development. Recognizing menstruation as a significant barrier to girls' education, Aika founded Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation to address this critical gap in menstrual health education.
With over 10 years of experience in the non-governmental sector, Aika has held key roles such as Project Manager for girls' programs in secondary schools in Kilimanjaro Region and Project Officer for youth projects. Notably, she facilitated the establishment of a Maasai women's group in Simanjiro Village, supporting them in producing reusable pads and educating the community on menstrual health to combat stigma.
Aika's impactful initiatives have made a significant difference in communities, and she continues to drive positive change as a leader at Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation. Her dedication and expertise are instrumental in advancing the organization's mission and creating lasting impact.

Volunteer Mentor
Shufaa Mashara Makoko is a dedicated individual with a passion for working with youth in our communities. With a Diploma in Community Development, Shufaa has been actively volunteering at Nguzo, sharing her expertise in community development. She serves as a mentor in both our In-school and Out-of-school youth programs, offering guidance and support to the students. Shufaa's nurturing presence has earned her the affection of both students and teachers alike. Her commitment to empowering youth and her positive impact on our programs make her a valued member of the Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation team.

Heriel Kweka
Acting Project Manager and ASRH Expert
Dr. Kweka's journey advocating for adolescent issues began during his student years, fueled by a profound commitment to shaping a brighter future. He champions a vision of a determined generation, untethered by discrimination, and nurtures communities free from violence. With a fervent desire for adolescents to thrive in good reproductive and mental health within healthy environments, he stands as a beacon of change.
Currently residing and working in Hai District as a medical practitioner, Dr. Kweka extends his influence as an agent of transformation, both locally and beyond. As a National trainer and consultant in various fields including Basic Life Skills, Sexual Reproductive Health Education, Gender-Based Violence, Mental Health, Nutrition, and Entrepreneurship, he embodies a steadfast dedication to preserving the purity of his community-centric ethos. In his role as Acting Project Manager for Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation, Dr. Kweka continues to drive impactful change, embodying his belief in the potential for positive transformation within communities.

Finance Manager
Issa Kipacha is a highly qualified accountant with a BSc. in Accounting and Finance from Ardhi University. He possesses advanced skills in financial analysis and is one of the few certified Onyx ERP users in Tanzania, demonstrating his proficiency in financial management systems. With extensive experience in accounting, auditing, and managing donor-funded projects such as UKAID and GIZ, Issa ensures the financial compliance of our organization. Since 2017, he has been an invaluable asset to reputable organizations, providing expertise and strategic financial solutions. Issa's dedication and expertise contribute significantly to the success of our financial operations at the Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation.

Aika Ombeni Wilfred
Occupational Therapist Consultant
Aika works at Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation as an Occupational Therapist Consultant. She is also the vice secretary of Tanzania Occupational Therapy Association and a volunteer with another nonprofit organization. She is dedicated to promoting wholeness and inclusion to people with disabilities in the community we are engaging with by advocating, empowering, facilitating and providing therapy services in rural areas around our communities. This occurs through several forms of engagement, through volunteering, working privately, and through her leadership. She believes in the potential for big changes in the future by promoting inclusion and access to rehabilitation services in rural areas.

Anna Newsum brings over seven years of experience in the nonprofit and private sectors, specializing in community-facing roles. With a strong background in reviewing funding proposals and managing social impact and grant programs, Anna brings great experience to our fundraising efforts. In 2020, she played a pivotal role in securing £1 million in funding for a new program. Based in the United Kingdom, Anna supports in grant writing and fundraising for our community programs. Kelsey Cohn
Volunteer Marketing and Program Development Manager
Kelsey Cohn is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a Master of Public Health in the Global Health concentration and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Public Health. She has experience working with nonprofits to address human trafficking among youth populations, served her hometown in Ohio as an Adult Mental Health Case Manager, has participated in conducting research with the Centers for Disease Control, and supported the Friends of Governance for Sustainable Development. She partnered with Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation through website development, content creation to support fundraising efforts, program monitoring and evaluation, and sustainable program development to address concerns identified by community members in Tanzania. Her dedication to sustainability and capacity building paves a bright future for fundraising, recruitment, and the visibility of Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation.
